IICRC Begins Drafting R800 Reference Guide for Carpet Inspection

Seeks volunteers for the R800 Reference Guide Committee

VANCOUVER, Wash. – The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) will begin drafting the R800 Reference Guide for Carpet Inspection.  Timeline for its completion is 36 months.

“We’re looking forward to beginning work on the new reference guide,” said IICRC Standards Consultant Larry Cooper. “Along with our partners in the industry, we know that the IICRC R800 will provide a needed resource for professionals.”

The R800 Reference Guide Committee will be chaired by Bill Doan of Shaw Industries and the vice-chair will be Lou Migliori of LGM and Associates, Technical Flooring Services.

The IICRC is now looking for industry volunteers to participate on the committee, which will meet approximately two times per year. While the first meeting will be held at Surfaces in Las Vegas, much of the work will be done online and via conference calls. There will be between 12 and 15 voting members of the committee and more than 20 volunteers assigned to specific subcommittees and topics.

“As with each new standard or reference guide the IICRC drafts, we’re looking for professionals who are dedicated to moving this forward,” said Bill Doan, IICRC R800 committee chair.

Anyone who is directly and materially affected by the carpet inspector reference guide can apply for committee membership. Membership is neither conditional upon membership in any organizations nor unreasonably restricted on the basis of technical qualifications or other such requirements. Committee membership applications will be reviewed by the standards consultant, committee chair and vice chair and those selected will be notified. Not everyone who applies will become a consensus body member but all will be invited to work on the chapter committees.

Requests for Applications should be submitted to IICRC Standards Consultant Larry Cooper at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or IICRC headquarters at 360-693-5675.
