Question from the SCRT List Serve: Wondering if anyone has any technical bulletins regarding ozone or fume fading.  What causes it? What yarn or dying system has the greatest degree of preventing it from happening? I understand that I pretty much already know the answers, however I have a client that wants to see it in writing, not from some local who they think just dropped off the vegetable cart.

Answer:  In conjunction with sun fading of secondary dyes to shades of yellow, don't forget the infamous high?humidity ozone fading problem experienced predominantly around coastal areas (i.e., Florida, California).  Ozone either oxidizes dye directly, or it simply combines with humidity forming H2O2, or hydrogen peroxide.  Over time this mild bleaching action takes its toll on carpet dyes.
