IICRC Calls For Volunteers in Development of First Ever Field Guides

LAS VEGAS – Aug. 7, 2017 – The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) is seeking volunteers to serve on the development committees for two, first of their kind, field guides to help improve the health and safety practices of professional disaster restoration and cleaning professionals.

The new documents titled, “IICRC Field Guide for Safety and Health for Professional Cleaners” and “IICRC Field Guide for Safety and Health for Disaster Restoration Professionals,” will supplement existing IICRC restoration standards and certification classes.  The guides will include valuable information about safety and health hazard identification procedures, safe work practices and control methods that prudent disaster restoration and cleaning professionals should employ.

“Most members of the cleaning and restoration industry rely on regulations to guide their safety and health policies, however these regulations don’t always take into account the specific needs of our industry,” said Howard Wolf, IICRC Standards Chairman. “These new field guides serve to address the needs of all participants of the cleaning and restoration industry, including cleaners, restorers, managers, end users, insurance adjusters and indoor environmental professionals.”

Committee members can expect to begin work on the standard by the end of 2017 with all meetings being held online and via conference calls. The new field guides are expected to be completed in approximately one year.

Those interested in serving on a field guide committee can fill out the downloadable application forms at the links below:

Complete applications should be emailed to IICRC Standards Director Mili Washington at standards@iicrcnet.org, by Sept. 30, 2017. Please note, separate application forms are required for each field guide committee.

IICRC Opens Nominations for Two Prestigious Industry Awards

Las Vegas – June 29, 2017 – The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) is seeking nominations for the Cy Gantt Award and Keith Williams Award.  The Cy Gantt Award recognizes special contributions to the industries served by the IICRC, and the Keith Williams Award recognizes a significant technical contribution to the science of inspection, cleaning and restoration. The deadline for nominations is Aug. 15.

“These awards honor some of the brightest minds in the inspection, cleaning and restoration industries,” said IICRC Chairman Pete Duncanson. “Each year we look forward to meeting a new batch of nominees who undoubtedly represent the future of the industry.”

Named in honor of the late Honorary Board of Directors member Cy Gantt, the Cy Gantt Award is presented to an individual who exemplifies long-term outstanding service to the inspection, cleaning and/or restoration industry. Recipients will receive a special plaque, have their name added to the permanent plaque that hangs in the IICRC Global Resource Center in Las Vegas, and be featured in the IICRC’s e-newsletter.

Presented annually, the Keith Williams Award was created to honor its namesake, an industry pioneer who volunteered his time and technical abilities to the IICRC for many years. It honors an individual who has made a significant technical contribution to the advancement of the science of inspection, cleaning and restoration. Recipients will receive a special plaque and will be featured in the IICRC’s e-newsletter.

Award winners will be announced during the IICRC’s instructor recognition banquet, Oct. 13 in Vancouver, Wash. To submit a nomination, visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/IICRCAwards17.
